Twelve years before the start of the series, the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox attacked Konohagakure and destroyed the village's infrastructure and took many lives. Then leader of the village (the Fourth Hokage) and his wife, sacrificed their lives by sealing the Nine-Tails into their own son (Naruto Uzumaki). The villagers where out of fear and anger for Naruto who contained the demon fox. They viewed him as the Nine-Tails demon fox itself. The Third Hokage (leader of the village) outlawed speaking about anything related to this Nine-Tails demon fox but the children still inherited the fear for Naruto. To get acknowledged, Naruto swore he would one day become the greatest Hokage the village had ever seen.
The serie starts with introducing the main characters.
During the Chunin Exam many of the secondary characters where introduced.
The first major villain (outlaw) Orochimaru came into the picture. Sasuke obtained a cursed seal from Orochimaru during the chunin exam and slowly started to move away from his friends.
Gaara changed of heart during the invasion of Konoha and after battling Naruto.
The Third Hokage has died at the hands of Orochimaru's.
After this Naruto run into the hands of the Akatsuki members Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki and is later meeting up with Tsunade.
Also the battle between Orochimaru, Jiraiya and Tsunade is starting.
